Malgré la signature en octobre dernier d'une lettre d'intention avec DCNS pour la construction d'une FREMM, selon nos informations, le Maroc a opté pour son projet initial de trois corvettes néerlandaises. Le chantier De Schelde, à Flessingue, a commandé six moteurs diesels Pielstick 20 PA 6 B STC de 11.015 cv (8100 kW), afin d'équiper les trois navires marocains, a-t-on appris hier de source industrielle.
Du type Ship Integrated Geometrical Modularity Approach (SIGMA), ces corvettes seront dérivées des quatre unités commandées par l'Indonésie et dont la tête de série, le Diponegoro, est entrée en service en juillet 2007. Ce navire mesure 90.17 mètres de long pour 13 mètres de large et affiche un déplacement de 1700 tonnes en charge. Côté équipements, les SIGMA indonésiennes embarquent 4 missiles antinavire Exocet MM40 Block2 et deux systèmes Tetral (missiles Mistral) fournis par MBDA, un canon de 76 mm, deux canons de 20 mm et six tubes pour torpilles italiennes A244. L'électronique est développée par Thales, avec un système de combat TACTICOS, un radar MW 08 et une conduite de tir Lirod Mk2. En revanche, on ne sait pas, pour le moment, quelle configuration a été retenue par le Maroc tant au niveau des senseurs que des systèmes d'armes.
La commande de corvettes néerlandaise n'est peut-être pas une très bonne nouvelle pour DCNS. Si elle ne remet pas forcément en cause la construction d'une frégate multi-missions, elle pourrait entraîner un retard dans la signature du contrat avec l'industriel français. Une situation analogue s'est d'ailleurs produite récemment avec la Bulgarie qui, malgré une lettre d'intention signée fin 2007 pour quatre corvettes Gowind, a acheté d'occasion deux frégates belges. Chez DCNS, on assure, toutefois, que, dans le cas du Maroc, le programme de frégate est différent de celui des corvettes. "Les discussions se poursuivent activement", explique-t-on chez l'industriel.

Casablanca, 6 febr. De Nederlandse scheepsbouwer Damen Shipyards Group gaat drie Sigma-Corvette marineschepen leveren aan de Marokkaanse marine. Het contract daartoe werd vandaag getekend met de Marokkaanse autoriteiten.Bestuursvoorzitter René Berkvens van Damen onderstreepte vanavond het belang van de miljoenenorder, waarvan de omvang op verzoek van de Marokkaanse marine niet bekend wordt gemaakt. „Dit is een heel belangrijk project, niet alleen voor ons bedrijf maar ook voor de hele Nederlandse marinecluster van toeleverende bedrijven”, aldus een verheugde Berkvens. De laatste grote levering van de Corvettes betrof vorig jaar vier schepen aan de Indonesische marine voor een totaalbedrag van een miljard euro.
Volgens de bestuursvoorzitter biedt de bouw van de marineschepen voor zeker vier jaar werk en zijn er duizenden arbeidsplaatsen mee gemoeid. De drie schepen zullen worden gebouwd aan de werf De Schelde in Vlissingen. Met de bouw zal volgens Berkvens met onmiddellijke ingang worden begonnen.
Een deel van de Tweede Kamer toonde zich eerder fel tegenstander van de order van de Indonesische marine wegens mogelijke inzet tegen de bevolking. Daarvan was volgens de toenmalige minister Bot van Buitenlandse Zaken echter geen sprake. De order van de Marokkaanse autoriteiten is tot dusver zonder polemiek geplaatst.

25/03/2008 - El rey Mohamed VI, en su calidad de jefe supremo del Estado Mayor de las Fuerzas Armadas Reales de Marruecos (FAR), presidió la ceremonia de inicio de los trabajos de construcción de una base naval militar en la localidad de Alcázar Seghir, cerca del Estrecho de Gibraltar, entre Ceuta y Tánger.
El puerto militar situado en la orilla mediterránea marroquí servirá como enlace para las fragatas y naves de la Marina real encargadas de la protección de esa costa, informó el Estado Mayor marroquí.
El puerto constituirá la piedra angular de la cobertura marítima de la Marina Real en el estrecho de Gibraltar y en el Mediterráneo, gracias a su situación estratégica en las costas mediterráneas y atlánticas, a su proximidad al complejo portuario de Tánger y a sus modernas infraestructuras, añadió la nota.
La base militar, cuyo coste se estima en unos 127 millones de euros, esta previsto que este finalizada en 2010 y de su ejecución se encargan la Administración Nacional de Defensa, el Ministerio de Equipamiento y Transportes y el Ministerio de Economía y Finanzas.
Asimismo, la Agencia de Alojamientos y Equipamientos Militares (ALEM) está al cargo de la construcción de los acuartelamientos para el personal de la base naval y del sector marítimo en una nueva ciudad dotada de los equipamientos socioeducativos necesarios.
Este gran proyecto se inscribe en el marco de la modernización de la división marítima de las FAR en cuanto a infraestructuras y servicios públicos, sociales y comerciales.
Aunque el comunicado oficial no lo señala, Marruecos ya cuenta con otra base naval en sus 512 kilómetros de costa mediterránea situada en Alhucemas, a unos 150 kilómetros al oeste de Melilla, y fue inaugurada en 1977, según el diario El País.
La empresa francesa DCNS está negociando un contrato con la Marina Real para la venta de una fragata multimisión FREMM por un importe de unos 500 millones de euros, según se anunció a finales del año pasado con motivo de la visita de Estado a Rabat del presidente francés, Nicolás Sarkozy.

HENGELO, Netherlands --- On 1 April 2008 Thales Nederland was awarded a contract for the supply of integrated sensor, command & control and communication systems for three new multi-mission frigates that will be built for the Royal Moroccan Navy. Prime Contractor is Schelde Naval Shipbuilding who will build the vessels. In 2012 the last of the three ships will be delivered.
Thales will supply a significant share of the frigate’s operational capabilities to include the TACTICOS combat management system, SMART-S Mk2 surveillance radar, LIROD Mk2 tracking radar, KINGKLIP sonar system, IFF system, Integrated communication system comprising external communication system and FOCON internal communication system, two Target Designation Sights, VIGILE ESM system, SCORPION ECM system, and the integrated navigation system.
This contract confirms the long-lasting relation Thales has entertained with the Royal Moroccan Navy. It also illustrates the excellent cooperation between Schelde Naval Shipbuilding and Thales.
Through this contract the number of SMART-S Mk2 systems sold is increased to 13. The Royal Moroccan Navy is the fifth customer to select SMART-S Mk2, proving further customer recognition of the superiority of this concept.
